From museums to famous movie stars, Mohammad Khan (M.K. Gems and Minerals, Inc.) sold to all of them. His biggest strength is his network inside Pakistan and Afghanistan through which he has a first opportunity to obtain the most unique pieces. He collaborates with a variety of carvers, cutters and jewelry designers, whose work he then sells as well.

The mountain ranges of Pakistan, Afghanistan & Kashmir have vast Pegmatite deposits of precious & semi-precious Gemstones and Minerals. Since Peshawar is one of the oldest established gem trading markets in south Asia, Mr. Khan established his first office there in 1985. He initially dealt with uncut Lapis lazuli, which he supplied to the markets of Hong Kong and Europe. He then took interest in Kunzite, which is a variety of Spodumene, which he had cut and Polished and supplied to Japan.

Today, his company M.K. Gems & Minerals, Inc. is a very well established & highly respected firm in the USA. Due to his direct connections with the producers of Gemstones & Minerals, in Pakistan, Kashmir, Afghanistan, Tajikistan & Nigeria in Africa, M. K. Gems & Minerals, Inc. provides a huge variety of gem materials to the fastest growing industry in the USA

About M.K. Gems & Minerals, Inc: the company was established in Southern California, United States of America by Mohammad I. Khan in 1990. In 1981, Mr. Khan entered into the Gemstones and Mineral Industry in Peshawar, which is a historic city in the North West Frontier Province (N.W.F.P) of Pakistan. This city of Peshawar, lays at the gateway to the well know historic 'Khyber Pass', through which many invaders entered into this region & beyond. Lured by the vast riches of natural resources that this region was blessed with. On Pakistan's North Western border lays Afghanistan, equally rich with natural resources & on it's North Eastern border, Kashmir.


Mohammad Khan sold the gemstones used by many award winning cutters and carvers. Most recently is the Peridot that appeared on the cover of "Gems and Gemmology" and which was carved by Larry Woods.
