The
coal is, for the most part, of poor quality and limited in extent.
There are, however, a good many seams; possibly when opened up they may
prove to contain better fuel than any which is now exposed in natural
sections. But the field is unfavourably situated with regard to lines
of communication.
IX. & X. Karanpura, North and SouTH.f
These fields are situated at the head of the Damuda valley. Their areas respectively are 472 and 72 square miles.
The
groups occurring are the same as in the Bokaro field, save that in the
southern field there has been no trace of Panchets yet discovered :—
