Usage: In calces (Dihli kay Sahih Murakkabat), poultice (as aphrodisiac and abortifacient), confections and powders (syphilis), in ointments, and oils (Qarabadin-i-Kabir; Miftah al-Khazain), Also used in
hair-dye, for piles, and in pills (Qarabadin-e-Dhakai).
Dhahab (Cold)
Temperament: Temperate.
Therapeutic Action: In agitation, atrabilious ailments, cephalic and
cardiac tonic; restorative for vital energy; exhilarant.
Usage: In calces and aquas (Dihli kay Sahih Murakkabat),
exhilarant medicines, liniments, etc. (Qarabadin-e-Kabir), in ground
form, salts, etc. (Miftah al-Khazain), collyrium, and hair-dye
(Qarabadin-e-Dhakai).
Fizzah (Silver)
Temperament: Hot and dry.

Usage: In foils, for preserves and electuaries, calces, hair-dyes
(liaj al-Amrad), confections (Qarabadin-e-Kabir), ground forms (Miftah
al-Khazain),
collyria (Qarabadin-e-Dhakai).
Nuhas Abiyad (Copper)
Temperament: Hot and dry in the third degree.
Therapeutic Action: Attenuant, detersive; employed in cold
diseases, paralysis, facial paralysis and allied diseases; ocular tonic,
useful in dropsy; abortifacient.
Usage: In collyria (Qarabadin-e-Qadri), ointment and drops for the
ear, used in cold; calces (llaj al-Amrad); hair-dye (Qarabadin-e-Dhakai).
Usrub (Lead)
'Temperament: Cold in the third degree and desiccative.
Therapeutic Action: Resolvent, detersive, useful in cankerous sores,
piles, ocular diseases, ailments of seminal vesicles, nervous diseases,
piles, and chronic ulcers (Makhzan al-Adawiyyah).
Usage: As ointment, pessary, poultice (Dihli kay Sahih Murakkabat;
Qarabadin-e-Kabir),
collyria (llaj al-Amrad; Qarabaddin-e-Kabir,
Qarabadin-e-Dhakai)
and in salts (Miftah al-Khazain).
Jainast (Coarse Blue Gem)
Temperament: Hot and dry (in the second degree).
'Therapeutic Action: Stimulant; cardiac and ocular tonic; antimelancholic; anti-phlogistic.
