Preparation: Dried arrila, ground, is sieved through mesh No. 60
and made into sufuf. Soaked overnight in one litre of water, it is made
into sujuj by the addition of darchini and ilaichi and sifted through
mesh No. 60. Next morning -arishk is boiled in 75 ml. of water.
When zarishk is dissolved, the cooked material is taken off the fire, and,
on cooling down, is rubbed with hands and sieved, so that the pulp of
the zarishk is recovered and the husk is removed. To this joshanda amla
together with the remaining water, rnb-i-anar shiriii, rub-i-bihi, ab-i-
liniuu and the turanj juice are added in the prescribed quantities, and
the mixture cooked. During cooking finely pulverized ambar is added;
and, when the qiwam is ready, it is removed from the fire and the
darchini and ilaichi sufnf is gradually added, during agitation with a
dabi, to it. When the sufuj-qiwani mixture is ready, marxvarid sayida is
added, and, lastly, the silver and gold foils. Agitation and vigorous
mixing should be continued. Storage should be in a glass/chinaclay
container.
Dosage and administration: 5 gm. in the morning.
i'ses and indications: (i) Cerebral, liver and stomach tonic, (ii)
Relieves dysentery due to weak bowels.
