Preparation: The herbal ingredients are ground, sieved through 60mesh and made into sujuf. The silk is soaked overnight in 10 times its
volume in water (200 ml.) and heated on fire the next morning till
almost all the water has evaporated and the silk is just moist. The silk
is strained through a cloth after rubbing and the strained honey, white
sugar qiwam, and ambergris are added to it, after which it is heated on
fire till a qiwam forms, sodium benzoate, dissolved in a little water, is
now added to the qiwam. When the qiwam boils, it is taken off the
fire and the sufuf is gradually added to it and the mixture stirred.
Lastly, the pearls and Vateria indica are added, accompanied by stirring
and followed by the addition of silver and gold foils, triturated in aqua
Pandanus odoratissimus. The dawa be preserved in glass/chinaclay jar
for use.
Dosage and administration: 5g. before breakfast with aqua gaozaban or a suitable vehicle.
Uses and indications: (i) Cardiac, cerebral and liver tonic, (ii)
Antifibrillant. (iii) Anodyne and refrigerant, (iv) Antiphlegmatic and
an ti catarrhal.
