mortar. A little of the aqua Foeniculum vulgare is added at a time and
grinding is continued till the aqua dries up and with it the kulil also,
after which the material is sieved through a fine cloth, and stocked in
glass jar.
Administration: To be applied in the morning and at night to the
eyes.
L'ses and indications: (i) Improves eyesight, (ii) Removes soreness
and redness of the eyes.

Recipe
Processed mica, white variety (abrak safaid dhanabj           250 grams
Saltpetre fshora qalmi)                                                             60 grams
Aloe barbadensis leaf juice (ab ghaikwar)                           As required
Cow-dung cakes (uplas)                                                    1 05 kilograms
Preparation: 250 g. of the mica are pounded and put in cloth bag
along with an equal or slightly less weight of the whole rice. The cloth
bag at the top with a knot is put in a small tub of water and rubbed
with hands so that the mica particles come out of the bag into the
water. The process is continued till all the mica particles come out.
After letting the water remain undisturbed for some time, the supernatant water is decanted off and the mica, called the abrak mahtnb or
dhanab, is used in the preparation of the kushta.
Now, the saltpetre is dissolved in an appropriate quantity of Aloe
barbadensis latex till a viscous solution forms. The liquor is now put in
a pyrex flask and heated on fire or dried by gil hikmat. When the
liquor is dried, it is put inside a pit containing 1 5 kilograms of the
cow-dung cakes. On cooling, the mica is taken out. pounded in more
water and after dissolution left undisturbed till such time as the mica
settles down, and the supernatant liquid is decanted off, the process
be repeated once again. The saltpetre and the mica are thus separated.
The mica, when dried, is triturated in a mortar containing 1 25 ml. of
the Aloe barbadensis latex. Ten grams of heavy tablets are niade, dried
in an air-tight pyrex flask or oil hikmat and warmed in a pit containing
15 kilograms of uplas (cow-dung cakes). On cooling, these are removed
and the process of the gil hikmat is repeated seven times in all. The
resultant kushta would be white. It is sieved and kept in bottle.
Dosage and administration: 60-125 mg. or one tablet with 10 g.
of honev in asthma or bronchitis or with 250 ml. of milk or with
