Cow-dung cakes fiiplas)                                                      10 kilograms
Preparation: Half of the Sapindus trifoliatus peel powder is spread
out in an earthenware or chinaclay cup, covered with the copper
sulphate pieces, and finally covered with the remaining Sapindus
trifoliatus powder. This mixture is dried through the application of
heat in a pyrex flask or by ail hikmat, and kept airtight during drying.
It is again heated in a pit containing 5 kg. of the dung cakes. On
cooling, the greenish-white kuslita is added to half the amount of
camphor (121 g.) in a cup and covered with the remaining camphor.
After drying through the application of heat ox oil hikmat the material
is heated with 5 g. of the dung. The kuslita which is light greenishwhite is sieved and stocked in bottle.
Dosage and administration: 6 mg. with butter or cream.
Ises and indications: Curative for syphilitic sores.
KUSHTA HAJR-UL-YAHUD
Recipe
Jew's stone (hajr-itl-\'almd)                                                    100 grams
Raphanus sativus fresh leaves juice (mult kapani)                   300 ml.
Potassium carbonate (jowakhar)                                              25 grams
Cow-dung cakes (uplas)                                                      15 kilograms
Preparation: The Jew's stone is broken into pieces, placed in an
earthenware flask or a pyrex flask and 200 ml. of the Raphanus sativus
juice are added. After effecting desiccation by means of git hikmat or
in an airtight pvrex flask, the material is heated in a pit containing 10
kg. of the dung cakes. When the material cools down, it is ground and
100 ml. of the Raphanus sativus leaves juice together with potassium
carbonate is added and grinding remains continued. When the juice
dries up, 10 g. tablets are prepared, submitted to drying in pyrex flask
or gil hikmat and heated in a pit containing 5 kg. of the dung cakes.
When the fire is burnt itself out, the kushta is taken out. It should be
light soil-coloured. It is sieved and stocked in bottle.
l^osage and administration: 125 mg. or one tablet with 3 g. iiia'jini
aqrab or tna'jun hajr-ttl-Yalmd or 10 ml. of sharbat anannas (pineapple
sharbat).
L'ses and indications: Lithontriptic for the kidneys and gall bladder.
