KUSHTA KHUBS-UL-HADID
Recipe
Iron oxide (khtibs-al-hadid)                                                    250 grams
Vinegar i sirha (lest)                                                                      500 nil.
Emblica officinalis, Terminalia belerica and
Terminalia chebula (triphala)                                          250 grains
Blumea balsamifera (kakrotida buti)                                     250 grams
Aloe barbadensis juice fabghaikwar)                                    250 grams
Cow-dung cakes fuplas)                                                      30 kilograms
Preparation: Small cakes of iron oxide are made and placed on redhot coals. When very hot, they are transferred with a pair of tongs into
a vessel containing the vinegar. They are then removed from the
vinegar, ground and triturated in the triphala water till there remains no
water. Now, the iron oxide tablets weighing 10 g. each are dried in
pyrcx flask or submitted to gil itikmat and heated in a pit containing
"I 0 kg. of the dung cakes which are set on fire. When the fire is burnt
out, the flask is taken out and, after trituration with the Blumea
balsamifera. it is made into cakes and heated in 10 kg. of the dung.
On cooling, the metallic oxide is taken out, triturated in the Aloe
barbadensis juice and heated in 10 kg. of the dung. On cooling, the
kuslita which is violet in colour is sieved and preserved in bottle.
Dotage and administration: 125 mg. or 2 tablets with 5 g. of
jawarish jalimis in the morning.
L'ses and indications: (i) Stomachic and liver tonic, (ii) Haematogogue. (iii) Curative for debility (o{ the liver and stomach), (iv)
Relieves anaemic conditions.
KUSHTA ZAMARRUD
Recipe
Emerald ^zaniamtd)                                                                100 grams
Aqua Rosa damascena fanj gnlab)                                             750 ml.
Cow-dung cakes (uplas)                                                      30 kilograms
^'reparation; The emeralds are finely ground and sieved and triturated in 250 ml. of aqua Rosa damascena. When dried up, 10 g.
tablets are made and dried in pyrex flask by the application of heat or
git hihniat and heated in 10 kg. of the dung cakes. On cooling, the
emerald cakes are taken out, triturated in 250 ml. of aqua Rosa
damascena and dried as before. The kuslita will be light yellowish. It
is sieved and stocked in bottle.
