Preparation: The Ferric oxide or iron rust is first heated on a
cooker fired by coal and quenched, when very hot, in vinegar or in an
infusion containing equal weights of Emblica officinalis, Terminalia
belerica and Terminalia chebula (ab triphala), the procedure is repeated
for seven days. The processed or treated iron oxide is added to the
sujuj of the dry ingredients which has been obtained by first grinding
and, second, by sieving them through 80-mesh, after the suftif has been
soaked in the ghee. The qiwam of the white sugar is heated, and. when
the desired viscosity has been attained, the sufnf is gradually added
during stirring, till the sujuj and the qiwarn mix well. The nui'jun is
collected in glass jar.
Dosage and administration: 3-5 g. in the morning with 250 ml. of
yoghurt.
i'ses and indications: (i) Styptic for bleeding piles, (ii) Stomachic.
(iii) Liver tonic, (iv) Digestive, (v) Appetizing.
