Pistacia lentiscus (mastagi RurniJ                                             20 grams
Ghee                                                                                              5 grams
Preparation: Sufnf is made from the dry ingredients after they have
been ground and sieved through 80-mesh. The kernels, separately
ground, are sieved through 40-mesh, and incorporated into this sufnf.
The ground Vateria indica and pearls are also added to the sufnf which
is carefully kept aside for use. The raisins are now washed and warmed
in 5 litres of water. When the volume of the water has been reduced
to one-quarter, the decoction is removed from the fire, rubbed with
hands and strained. To the strained portion are now added the white
sugar, honey, pomegranate, Cydonia vulgaris and apple extracts, and
heating is effected. When the qiwam is properly set, it is removed from
the fire and the sufnf is properly set, it is removed from the fire and the
sufnf is gradually added to it during stirring. When the sufnf has
mixed with the qiwam, the Pistacia lentiscus gum molten in the ghee
is added, followed by the incorporation of the silver foil during stirring.
The ma'jun is stocked in glass jar.
Dosage and administration: 5 g. in the morning with 125 ml. of
milk.
L'ses and indications: (i) Aphrodisiac, (ii) Useful in spermatorrhoea
and leucorrhoea.

Pearls, ground (manvarid mahlul)                                              3 grams

Pheretima posthuma cleansed (khiratin musaffa)                  40 grams
Camel milk cheese (maya shtttr A 'rabi)                                   60 grams
Honey (shehed)                                                                       500 grains
Ambra grasea fambar)                                                                 2 grams
Preparation: The Pheretima posthuma (common earthworms) are
triturated and sieved through 80-mesh. Camel milk cheese is then
added to the sieved earthworms and triturated, followed by the
addition of the ground pearls so that sufnf is made. The honey is now
heated and the asphalt is added to it after grinding. When hot, the
sufnf of the first three ingredients is incorporated into the q'uvam,
after which the gold foils are added. The medicament is preserved in
glass jar.
Dosage and administration: 3 g. before breakfast with 250 ml. of
milk.
