the trough (Fig. 2). Of course there are, as on other fields,
exceptions to the rule, both in structural features and in the number
of lines of lode in each system. At a point on one line of system I
noticed an inverted saddle lode, and at another point a bow of quartz
having the arch up. Dyke material is to be seen in most of the systems
of lodes inspected. In some instances this material is associated with
the quartz forma tions of the main line of a system, in others not. I
noticed both in abandoned workings and those iu progress, that the
situations in lodes which are favoured by deposition of gold in payable
form are at or near the line of contact of the minor drainage in
slate-rock with the larger crack lines of drainage now filled with lode
