The name andalu-site is from the province of Andalusia in Spain, whence the mineral was first described. Chiastolites are found at various points in New England and in California in this country, but sale for them is to be found chiefly abroad. Kunz describes andalusite of a pink color, capable of affording transparent gems, which is obtainable at Westford, Massachusetts, and Standish, Maine.
