		When you passed Laramie Peak (above) you were aware of the change in the trail—the transition from the dusty plains to the newer air and the newer dangers. If cholera and dysentery declined, "mountain fever" took their places. Now the trail was all up and down in the rugged nakedness of the Black Hills (below), later known as the Laramie Mountains.
