By the pass above, the
emigrants crossed from Vallecito to San Felipe. Here at last, the
way-worn men and women, ragged, dusty, leading their jaded animals, had
reached green country again. The water at Vallecito tasted of sulphur,
but it was water. At San Felipe, there was plenty of good water, and
grass; and Warner's Pass (below) was in sight from San Felipe—the last barrier!
