174                       GEMS AND PRECIOUS STONES IN THE
Smithfield, R. I., to that mineral. (See Bowenite.) Near Eas-ton, Pa., is found a mineral which James D. Dana says is a mixture and calls it pseudo-nephrite. Of this there are two varieties, one pale green, almost white, the other darker green. The former is found on the Delaware River about a mile north of Easton, and the darker green, about a mile west of this locality at Lerch's, the former on the south side and the latter on the north side of the Syenite ridge.
