	The original cut of the Diamond was that of the table-form, with a row of facets above. It was not until the year 1520 that the Rose-cut was introduced, while the form of the Brilliant was not known until the reign of Louis XIII. of France. It was Cardinal Mazarin who first had the Diamond cut as a Brilliant.
