A
very large specimen of Rubellite, or Red Tourmaline, from Burma, is
exhibited in the Mineralogical Gallery of the British Museum (South
Kensington). This unique group of crystals was presented by the King of
Ava to Colonel Symes when on an embassy to that country, and has been
valued at £1000. It has probably lost much of its original colour and value.
The
author has received a very fine piece of reddish Tourmaline from the
Cashmere Sapphire Mines and several pieces from the Burma Ruby Mines.
