IMPORTS.
It
is interesting to note that the imports for consumption of platinum
during the calendar year 1906 were valued at $3,788,759, as against
$2,173,623 in 1905, $1,879,155 in 1904, $2,055,933 in 1903, and
$1,987,980 in 1902.
The
imports in 1906 were distributed as follows: Unmanufactured, 1,267
pounds, valued at $390,989; ingots, bars, sheets, and wire, 10,227
pounds, valued at $3,210,131; vases, retorts, and other apparatus,
vessels, and parts thereof for chemical uses, $186,398; manufactures
of, not specially provided for, $1,241.
