Mine production of gold and silver in the United States in 1911 as reported to the United States Geological Survey, by States and Territories, in fine ounces.
An increase in production of gold amounting to $2,121,013 and an increase in silver output of 3,510,282 fine ounces are shown by the mines report for the United States for 1911, as compared with the corresponding figures for 1910.
The principal producing States ranked as follows in 1911 in output of gold: California, Colorado, Nevada, Alaska, South Dakota, Utah, Montana, Arizona, and Idaho, or the same as in 1910, except that a large decrease in. Colorado and a small increase in California brought the latter State to the head of the list in 1911, exchanging places with Colorado, which led all the States in 1910. No other State besides the 9 mentioned above produced $1,000,000 in gold during the last two years. Themost notable increases in 1911 were $2,037,617 in South Dakota, $726,507 in Alaska, and $664,913 in Utah. .The heaviest decreases were $1,505,083 in Colorado and $685,467 in
Nevada. Of the 23 States and State groups, Territories, and insular possessions enumerated in the table, gold production increased in 14 and decreased in 9 in 1911.
In silver output the principal producing States ranked as follows: Nevada, Utah, Montana, Idaho, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, and California. Changes in relative rank in 1911 from 1910 were that Utah changed places with Montana, Idaho with Colorado, and New Mexico took rank between Arizona and California. No other States than those mentioned produced 1,000,000 ounces of silver in 1910 or 1911, and New Mexico fell below that mark in 1910. The largest
