During 1914 the average price of the various platinum-group met­als was approximately as shown below, which figures have been used by the United States Geological Survey in all computations.
No quotations of prices of the remaining metals of the platinum group—osmium, rhodium, and ruthenium—are available, and prob­ably any sales were private. These metals are scarce and have little commercial use, and it seems probable that very small quantities, if any, were marketed in 1914.

Domestic.—As stated in the report for 1913 the crude platinum concentrates produced in the placer fields of the United States con­tain, as a rule, some valueless sand grains; also the grains of the
