MINERAL RESOURCES, 1919—PART I.
WORLD'S PRODUCTION OF SILVER.
The figures for the world's production of silver in 1919 show that the United States and Canada produced about 41 per cent, against 45 per cent in 1918, and that Mexico, Central America, and South America yielded nearly 46 per cent, so that approximately only 21,965,000 ounces of silver came from all other countries, mainly from Australia, Japan, Spain, and Burma. There was a small increase in the quantity of silver produced in Mexico in 1919, but the production from mines in the United States decreased about 11,128,000 ounces and that from Canada decreased 5,609,500 ounces. The total decrease in the world's production of silver in 1919 was about 22,877,500 ounces.
