Quicksilver consumed in Colorado in 1919 amounted to 4,540 pounds, in New Mexico to 300 pounds, and in South Dakota to 9,000 pounds.
The Mining and Scientific Press, April 6, 1918, contains an article on "The loss of quicksilver in gold mills," by W. J. Sharwood. Tables are given showing available data on the consumption of mercury in stamp mills on a basis of troy ounces of mercury used per short ton of ore for various mills in the United States, Mexico, Canada, South Africa, Chosen (Korea), Celebes, and Australasia.
