In 1923 there will probably be moderate increases in Canada, Mexico, Peru, and a few other countries and a large increase in South Africa, due entirely to the continuous operation of mines on the Eand and not to any radical improvement in general unfavorable mining conditions. In the following table is shown the output of gold by countries, as given by the Bureau of the Mint, with slight changes resulting from late information.

WORLD'S PRODUCTION OF SILVER.
The figures for the world's production of silver in 1922 show that the United States and Canada produced 35 per cent, against 39 per cent in 1921, and that Mexico, Central America, and South America produced nearly 50 per cent, so that approximately only 32,730,000 ounces of silver came from all other countries, mainly from Australia, Burma, Japan, and Spain. There were increases of about 3,187,600 ounces in the United States, 16,611,500 ounces in Mexico, 4,170,900 ounces in Bolivia and Chile, 5,446,500 ounces in Canada, 3,161,200
