Gold Rhapsody Brooch by Barbara Berk
22kt and 18kt gold wires are woven by hand, off loom using Soumak, an ancient rug-weaving technique named for the city (Shemakha) in Azerbaijan in which it originated. The flat platinum "fabric" is shaped into a 3-dimensional, sculptural form that becomes a brooch with the addition of a stickpin to attach it to the garment. A 22kt gold wire embellishment tops the interchangeable stickpin. Choose from faceted Citrine and Amethyst spheres, or a Tahitian cultured pearl to change the look of your brooch. Also wearable as a slide on your favorite chain, neckwire or cording.
