Pansy Brooch French (Paris), René Jules Lalique, ca. 1903

This pansy brooch is an example of the floral-themed jewelry for which René Lalique (1860–1945) was famous. Six delicate pansies in opaque glass sprout from translucent blue enamel stems on either side of a large central step-cut sapphire.

Like the Iris Corsage Ornament (nearby) this brooch’s large size indicates that it was created as a display piece and not meant to be worn.
