2009 Tucson Gem Show | Tucson Gem and Mineral Show | January 30 - February 15



SHOWCASE YOUR GEMS, MINERALS, JEWELRY FOR FREE

If you are selling at the Tucson Gem Show or Mineral Show, then contact us if you are interested in a free showcase of your Minerals, Gem Stones, Jewelry. Give your Tucson customers a heads up of what they can expect.

In about a month or so, we will start with the showcase. In the mean time, if you are interested register with us and send us an email with your user name. In a month or so, we will give you the rights to create your own showcase on these Tucson pages.

Tucson Gem Show | Getting Around

Life is quite simple. If you go to Tucson Gem Show you can do 3 things.
1) SHUTTLES: they go from hotel to hotel, and past the Tucson Convention Center as well. There are different shuttle lines, all with their own colour all doing different routes at the Tucson Gem Show. Do not worry about getting maps before you go. It's all extremely well organized and self-explanatory. They usually go on until later in the evening, depending whether individual hotel gem shows are still open.

Advantage: no parking problems, it's free, and you get to sit and talk with your fellow Tucson Gem Show visitors. Disadvantage: overful busses sometimes, if you need to be all over the place, then busses won't get you there very quickly. It takes time, and switching buses sometimes

2) Rent a car. Don't do it there in Tucson locally, but do it a few months in advance through a booking website. You can get even better deals by renting through foreign based car-rental websites, since tend to be less "price-sensitive" to the Tucson hype. Parking is tough, but, with a map, you can follow your own itinerary and your own time schedule.

3) Get a cab.. it's expensive.. and if your motel/hotel is off the beaten path, you have to wait forever. As well as in rush hours during the Tucson Gem Show. This is a sample listing of Taxi companies in Tucson with phone numbers.

That's basically all there is to it.

 

Tucson Gem Show | Largest Shows

The largest or most prestigious Tucson Gem Shows are:

 

  • AGTA Gem Show Tucson: 6-11 February Main Convention Center. Wholesale High End loose gemstones, Gem Art and some jewelry.
  • G.L.D.A Tucson Gem and Jewelry Show: February 5 - 10. Wholesale Gemstone, Lapidary and Jewelry (Gem and Lapidary Dealers Association).
  • AKS Tucson Gem Show: 2-16 February.
  • J.O.G.S Tucson Show: 1-11 February.
  • Tucson Gem and Mineral Show: 14-17 February. Main Convention Center. High end Mineral Specimens. Exclusive exhibits and the best dealer specimens here. Oldest show: this is where it all started.
  • Westward Look Show Tucson: 8 - 11 February: smaller show but the most exclusive for top mineral specimens.

 

Recommended visits Tucson | Metaphysical and Artifacts

Send recommendations to tucson@farlang.com. One of the areas to go to is:
  • West side of the freeway, including the Discovery Inn and the Holiday Inn Express. There may even be still someone selling what he claimed to be "genuine UFO crash-site debris". There will also be the occasional Afghani or Pakistani with nice mineral specimens.

 

 

Tucson | To and From the Airport

There are two airports you should consider:
  • Phoenix Airport. There is an excellent shuttle, which will pick you up from Phoenix Airport and can drop you off at certain areas in Tucson. Here is a list of their services and they list locations, prices and booking as well.  
  • Tucson Airport: There are several Airport Shuttles and more info on Tucson transportation here.

 

Tucson Gem Show | Hotels and Motels

If you want to go to the Tucson Gem Show.. book NOW. In December it's too late and all is sold out.

The weekend of the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show TGMS (14-17 February), is SOLD OUT MUCH FASTER than the weekend before, when the AGTA Tucson Gem Show (7-10 February) is being held. Just experience telling..

TIP: This is the Yahoo list, organized by distance from the Convention Center of around 300 motels in Tucson. If online booking systems don't help, try calling them directly.
